Update Your Will Week 2026 takes place from Monday 2nd to Sunday 8th March 2026. What can you do as an estate planning professional to educate your clients on the importance of updating their Will?
"Lifetime Lawyers recommend that wills are reviewed and updated every five years, or when a major change occurs that impacts you or your loved ones. For example, a marriage or civil partnership, divorce or dissolution of a civil partnership, a new birth, a death in your family, or if you or one of your beneficiaries has obtained a Gender Recognition Certificate." - (Lifetime Lawyers Website)
The Association of Lifetime Lawyer's annual campaign, Update Your Will Week 2026, has begun. The overall aim of the campaign is to educate, raise awareness and encourage the UK population to complete or update their Will. This initiative is driven by the following research conducted by The Association of Lifetime Lawyers:
"1 in 10 adults in the UK have started making a will but haven’t yet finished it."
"49% of adults in the UK don’t have a will in place."
If you are an estate planning professional, how can you get involved in this campaign and what tools are available to you?
Educating your clients: Through the communication you have with your clients, you can highlight the importance of keeping their Will up-to-date, providing them with examples of the changes that require amendments to be made. Make your clients aware of Update Your Will Week and encourage them to share the information with their friends, family and colleagues.
WillWatch: This tool, available on WillSuite and Sure Will Writer, allows you to run automated reports of your client-base that flag any Will that hasn't been updated in 3 years. In addition, it provides you with a complete breakdown of the Will contents that commonly require review, such as:
You are able to interact with the WillWatch dashboard in a number of different ways to help you and your team make notes, log interactions, assign tasks and keep progression organised as you streamline your repeat business with your client’s best interests at heart. For any additional questions, please contact info@willsuite.co.uk
Why get involved: As professionals work together to raise awareness of the campaign, they help to promote public understanding of Wills, why they need to be updated regularly and to help dispel inaccuracies.
