We are delighted to announce that WillSuite will now form part of the syllabus for the law degree with The University of Derby.
Over the last 16 months WillSuite has been working behind the scenes with a number of universities to offer work-based placements, host career FAQ sessions and to give presentations. And, we are pleased to announce that Derby has become the next university to implement our software as part of their course syllabus. Giving the lawyers of tomorrow more practical knowledge and experience to understand how practitioners draft their clients’ documents in the ‘real world’.
We have developed some key partnerships with organisations including, The Society of Will Writers and The Institute of Professional Will Writers. This new partnership with The University of Derby is another step towards our goal to help practitioners and their clients for years to come.
WillSuite founder Seb Shakh noted “It’s great to see universities developing their courses to take into account how practitioners draft documents. We have employed a number of graduates and place real value on how they can help us grow. We have no doubt that with their guidance and drawing from their academic experience, we will be able to add more value to these sorts of partnerships and that our software will continue to develop.”
WillSuite’s Head of Growth - Tom Stansfield added the following; “I’m probably showing my age here but when I studied Law, we didn’t get opportunities like this. We had great academic support and knowledge but the practical side was certainly missing. We’re working with a number of universities who are making their courses more practical and I fully support this. The University of Derby’s syllabus looks particularly engaging and we’re pleased to be working with them and their students.”
Lead tutor for the succession module Rebekah Marangon, responded with the following when asked about her view on the newly struck partnership “Here at Derby Law School we place a real emphasis on embedding real world learning into our curriculum and enabling students to be as employable as possible upon completion of their degree. The partnership with WillSuite offers a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain first hand experience in the interesting area of Wills and probate. We are extremely grateful for the support and generosity from WillSuite, and look forward to working with them in the future.”
Third year law student Nicola Lambert stated “University students are often criticised for a lack of real-life work skills. The partnership between the University of Derby and WillSuite will give us the opportunity to demonstrate a genuine practical understanding of how modern Will writing is done. Not only that but given that we have unfettered access to the software to create Wills, we will finish the Older Client module with the skills required to write accurate and valid Wills. I'm so grateful for the opportunity!”.
WillSuite is actively looking to support practitioners of tomorrow and urges anyone with any questions or looking for support to get in touch.
